Carlton Trail Ski Club Shared Trail Use Policy
CARLTON TRAIL SKI CLUB SHARED TRAIL USE POLICY:
This policy is implemented in recognition that there is some shared use of the trails groomed and maintained by the CARLTON TRAIL SKI CLUB. The trails are to be recognized as provided for and utilized by cross country skiers first and foremost and other users (but no motorized vehicles, sorry) secondarily. The following regulations are imposed for the safety and enjoyment of all who use the trail systems.
1. All other users of the ski trails MUST YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY to skiers on the trails as it is recognized that skiers may not always be able to stop or maintain control when encountering other users on the trails.
2. All users of the ski trails MUST ski, snowshoe, hike, or bike in the direction indicated on the trail signage and trail maps provided by the Carlton Trail Ski Club and available on the club website and on the Trailforks App.
3. All other users of the trails MUST remain on the edge of the groomed ski trails, preferably on the side furthest away from the parallel classic trail tracks. Anyone not familiar with the recommended location of foot traffic on the ski trails may refer to signage on the trails or the club website.
4. All users of the trails maintained by the Carlton Trail Ski Club MUST be members of the club or have paid the Daily Trail Fee. Daily trail fees can be paid by placing cash into the cash box at the Humboldt Golf Club or Dixon Trails trailhead. Trail fees and club memberships can be paid electronically by using the directions on our website.
5. The presence of pet dogs is allowed on the trails as long as the dog is not a nuisance or hazard to others on the trails and the dogs are not creating damage to the trails. Any dog droppings should be removed from the trails the same as would be done in any public space.
